China's National Tourism Administration has opened the Tianwan Nuclear Station in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, to the public as an industrial tourism scenic spot.
Xu Xiaonan, an official of the station's tourism office, said the seascape plant has a good environment and view, and tourists can overlook the whole plant from a platform.
The main scenic spot is a 190-million-yuan (US$24.33 million) exhibition center which occupies 5,000 square meters, combining a nuclear science museum, models and screening halls. Tourists can learn about the process of nuclear fission to generating heat energy in the center, Xu said, adding that the whole tour will take at least two hours.
The plant only accepts groups containing more than 10 tourists, and the ticket price ranges from 15 to 20 yuan a person.
Groups can fax their applications and the ID numbers of the visitors to the office two days ahead of their visit.
Tourists can only visit and photograph appointed areas, the report said.
