This is the 60th year since the end of China's War of Resistance against Japan. To mark the anniversary, the Memorial Hall of China's War of Resistance against Japan at Lugou Bridge closed its doors on March 28 to update exhibits and facilities.
The updated exhibitions will provide a comprehensive summary of the war, provide information on Japanese crimes against humanity during the period, reveal the important role China played in World War II and develop the Chinese people's patriotism, solidarity and determination to overcome hardships.
The memorial hall is installing a number of new high-tech displays and equipment. Also, when it reopens the exhibits will include some items never before included in the public displays.
The hall was built in 1987 and renovated in July 1997. Since its opening, it has hosted more than 12 million visitors, 70 percent of whom are primary- or middle-school students.
The hall is scheduled to reopen on August 15.
