The anti-graft unit of the Municipal Committee of the CPC transferred former Luohu police chief An Huijun to prosecutors Thursday after investigations found she allegedly accepted bribes to the tune of about 2.3 million yuan (US$278,000).
Earlier this week, Chinese-language newspapers reported that the Shenzhen People's Procuratorate accused An, 49, of accepting a total of 310,000 yuan in bribes between 1996 and 2003 when she was chief of the Luohu District Public Security Sub-bureau.
However, Party graft-busters said Thursday that An allegedly received 1.67 million yuan and HK$240,000 from other police officers in exchange for job promotions. She also allegedly received HK$300,000 from automobile suppliers and project contractors.
The Party investigators also disclosed that An's two lieutenants, Liao Hanping and Liu Rencheng, both former department heads at the Luohu sub-bureau, had also been handed over to prosecutors for alleged bribery and embezzlement.
Liao and Liu had been expelled from the Party. Liu was vice chief of the Futian District Public Security Sub-bureau before he was investigated.
Graft-busters also accused An of exercising dogmatism in running the sub-bureau and blamed her for a string of corruption cases among Luohu police.
