Pakistani companies are seeking closer cooperation with Chinese manufacturers, particularly in the textile and electronic appliance sectors.
"We are seeking opportunity to enhance the bilateral economic cooperation between Pakistan and China," said Dewan M. Yousuf Faroo-qui, chairman of the Pak-China Cultural and Business Society, Thursday. The society is the trading guild between the two nations.
Dewan led a 50-member delegation that started a visit to Shanghai Thursday.
"We hope to account for a reasonable share in China's export," he said, "That could be US$4 billion to US$5 billion annually."
Currently, the trading volume between the two nations is estimated at US$200 million per year.
Electronic appliances and motorcycles are currently the major products exported to Pakistan.
The delegation is also looking for domestic textile manufacturers who are interested in exporting to and investing in Pakistan.
