China began formal investigation Friday of the alleged dumping of a chemical product imported from the European Union, the Republic of Korea (ROK), the United States and India, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced in a statement.
The MOC said it will look into whether dumping of chloroform, asolvent used in refrigerants, propellants, and resins, and once used as an anesthetic, has occurred and if so, at what level.
An assessment will be made on any harm the possible dumping may have caused to China's domestic industry.
According to the statement, the investigation is expected to conclude by May 30, 2004 and might be extended to November 30, 2004 if necessary.
