A series of preferential policies have recently been adopted in Shenyang, capital city of northeast China's Liaoning Province, to encourage the growth of the local software industry.
According to the policies, the municipal government of Shenyangwill provide a certain number of subsidies to those who establish software institutes within the coming three years.
Moreover, the government will grant 200,000 yuan (about 24,096 US dollars) to software-related doctorate holders who decide to set up their own software enterprises in Shenyang.
The city is also encouraging the affiliated districts, counties and development zones to set up special zones for software research and production, offering free housing, electricity and heat to software enterprises.
In addition, the government has also created a special award asan incentive for outstanding contributions made in the developmentof the city's software industry.
By 2005, the sales volume from Shenyang's software industry is expected to reach 10 billion yuan, with exports expected to reach 100 million US dollars.
