British mobile telecommunication operator Vodafone will open its third generation mobile businesses in China this Wednesday, after long preparation.
Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin is expected to announce the plan with the ambitious goal of attracting 350,000 new users in the next four or five months.
Vodafone entered China four years ago, investing 19 billion pounds (about US$34 billion) for its 3G license and for network construction.
The British mobile operator will sell 3G phones produced by companies including Motorola, Nokia and Samsung.
The competition in the 3G businesses has intensified because tariffs on traditional phones keep dropping. So far no detail about the Vodafone's tariff for 3G phone call has been announced.
