China will join hands with multinationals aiming to improve China's industrial work safety as the State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dupont Company.

"The two sides will jointly work out safety assessment standards of occupational hazard and safety protection. Meanwhile, a monitoring system will be set up to guard against possible safety accidents," Deputy Director Sun Huashan of the SAWS said, adding that China will provide safety consultations and increase safety production training for enterprises.

The two sides will at first focus on personal protection equipment, he concluded.

The China Academy of Safety Science and Technology (CASST), a SAWS-affiliated national research institute, will work along with Dupont on accurate chemical production and handling, as well as industrial flash fire safety and protection.
The two sides agreed to establish Industrial Safety Advisory Council to provide advice and strategic direction in the face of emergent industrial risks.

Liu Tiemin, head of the CASST, said he expected Chinese work safety ethics to improve with the implementation of advanced technology and management concepts from home and abroad.

China has well-chosen its partner in this venture since Dupont, one of the safest industrial companies in the world, is a recognized leader in workplace safety management.

"We are excited to be embarking on this working relationship where Dupont can bring its safety knowledge and expertise to China", said Douglas Muzyka, President of Dupont Greater China.
