Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan on Sunday voiced China's strong indignation at the Japanese government's vile accusations relating to a Japanese diplomat's suicide at the Japanese Consulate General in Shanghai last May.

 

Shinzo Abe, Japan's top government spokesman, urged China last Thursday to "deal sincerely" with the matter, suggesting that regrettable actions by local Chinese security authorities were behind the suicide.

 

"Chinese police conducted lawful inquiries into the matter," Kong noted, adding that the Chinese police response was "valid" and "responsible."

 

"We feel strongly indignant at the Japanese government's ignorance of the facts and vile action by smearing China's image," Kong said.
