In an effort to gauge the views of netizens on Google's recently announced Chinese name Gu Ge a website (www.noguge.com) has been set up. As of Monday 6,829 netizens have 'hit' the site to express their unhappiness, the Beijing Evening News reported on April 24.
On the 'noguge' website a logo with a red cross put on Google's corresponding Chinese characters that read Gu Ge was put in a prominent position. The website provides 60 other Chinese names for netizens to choose. The Chinese name Gou Gou, a nickname for a dog, has the most supporters so far.
Google China's public relations manager, Cui Jin, said the website was suspected of infringing upon their rights by doing so. Google China wants to communicate with the founder of the website but it seems that legal action is not an option being considered.
