China's anti-secession law aims at curbing secessionist activities conducted by the "Taiwan independence" forces and is conducive to safeguarding peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and in the Asia-Pacific region, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said in Beijing Thursday.
Liu told a regular press conference that the Chinese government will firmly carry out its policy of "peaceful reunification with one country, two systems" and will make the utmost efforts to achieve peaceful settlement of the Taiwan issue.
Meanwhile, China will not allow "Taiwan independence," and will not allow any forces to separate Taiwan from China in any excuse or any form, Liu said.
Liu said China is willing to join hands with the international community in maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and in the Asia-Pacific region, "which accords with common interests of the Chinese people and the international community."
During the upcoming plenary session starting March 5, the Chinese National People's Congress will examine the draft of the anti-secession law.
