China to Increase Import from Pakistan: Wen

China has paid much attention to its trade deficit with Pakistan, and will take measures to increase import from Pakistan, said Premier Wen Jiabao Wednesday.

During a meeting with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Wen said he believes as the "early-harvest" agreement was signed, some Pakistani goods exporting to China will enjoy non-tariff treatment, and the trade imbalance between the two countries will be improved soon.

Wen said the economic and trade cooperation between China and Pakistan has made progress, and the Chinese enterprises have rich experience in infrastructure, high-tech and machine making, and the two governments should encourage a closer contact and cooperation between the enterprises of the two countries.

"I am here accompanied by a Chinese business delegation, and the members could have exchanges with their Pakistan counterparts to find new areas for cooperation," Wen said.

Musharraf expressed welcome to Chinese enterprises to make investment to his country, and to participate in the economic construction of Pakistan, especially on the areas such as infrastructure, energy resources and high-tech.

Musharraf said Pakistan attaches importance to Wen's visit, and he is happy to see the achievement the two countries have scored on the cooperation in all fields and friendly relations. Pakistan values the friendship with China, and will strengthen cooperation in all fields.

Wen said he can feel how much Pakistan loves China. He agreed with the view of Musharraf on the bilateral relations. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and he signed a treaty on friendship, cooperation and good-neighborly relations, confirming the friendship of the two peoples in the legal framework and establishing Sino-Pakistan strategic and cooperative partnership, Wen said.

He also mentioned the agreement on fighting "three vices," namely, terrorism, splittism and extremism, saying it strengthens the anti-terrorism and security cooperation. "We would like to work with Pakistan to push forward the all-round development of bilateral ties," he said.

On the international and regional issues, Musharraf said Pakistan and China have enjoyed the same stance on almost all major international issues, and the two sides should continue to enhance coordination.

Wen said China is happy to see Pakistan and India to improve the relationship, and hopes the two neighbors would solve the difference through peaceful negotiation on the bases of Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.
