A national working conference on strengthening and improving ideological and ethical work for juveniles was attended by China’s top leaders in Beijing on May 10 and 11. At the conference President Hu Jintao called for joint efforts by the whole Communist Party of China (CPC) and all the people to educate juveniles well on ideology and ethics in order to foster builders and successors of the socialist cause with China’s own characteristics.
Further strengthening and improving ideological and ethical work for juveniles is an important decision made by the central authorities to ensure the long-term stability and safety of the Party and the nation, said the president. Hu is also secretary general of the CPC Central Committee.
The work should be guided by Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the important thought of the “Three Represents” which says the CPC always represents the most advanced productivity and culture and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people.
The president referred to the 367 million Chinese under the age of 18 as the hope of the Party, the state and the Chinese nationality. He pledged to make them determined to love the motherland and dedicate themselves to its prosperity, richness and might.
Present at the meeting were members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau Wu Bangguo, Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong, Huang Ju, Wu Guanzheng, Li Changchun and Luo Gan.
