China Sets New World Records
Chinese strongwoman Sun Ruiping set three new weightlifting world records Monday to win the women's 75-kilogram category gold medal at the 14th Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.

After snatching a world record weight of 118.5 kilograms, Sun Ruiping continued her assault to the world mark in the clean and jerk, lifting 145 kilograms and 152.5 kilograms in the second and third attempt respectively. Both lifts broke the previous world mark of 143 kilograms, set by a Hungarian lifter this year.

In shooting, China's trio grabbed the team title in the men's 25 meter center fire pistol, while the individual gold medal was taken by North Korean athlete Kim Jong-su.

Earlier, Chinese athlete Wang Qingqing won the women?s 20 kilometer walk gold medal. Another Chinese, Gao Kelian, finished second.

In the men's 4-kilometer team pursuit cycling, the Chinese team won the gold medal in four minutes and 20 seconds.

Overall, China has won 4 gold medals today bringing the total number of gold medals to 96 and continuing to rank first in the medal list.

In table tennis, both Chinese pairs Wang Nan/Guo Yan and Zhang Yining/Li Nan went through to the semifinals of the women's doubles event.

China has lost the chance for gold in the women's team and mixed doubles events in the past three days, and was expected to face strong challenges from two South Korean pairs in the semifinals later.
