Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji Sunday concluded his two-day official visit to Bangladesh and left Dhaka for India to continue this two-nation South Asia tour aimed at strengthening China's ties with the two neighboring countries.
During his stay in Bangladesh, Zhu held talks with Bangladeshi President A.Q.M Badruddoza Choudhury, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Speaker of the National Assembly Jamiruddin Sircar, Foreign Minister Morshed Khan and other senior government officials, as well as leader of the opposition Bangladeshi Awami League Sheikh Hasina on bilateral cooperation and regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Zhu, who is the first Chinese premier to have visited Bangladesh in 12 years, said in his talks with Bangladeshi leaders that his visit aimed to enhance mutual understanding, increase trust and expand cooperation in various areas of common interest.
Zhu will hold talks with Indian leaders on bilateral relations and regional and international issues during his five-day official visit to India.
