Shanghai will strengthen efforts on Internet frauds, following the action of the US Trade Commission, according to the Shanghai Administration of Industry and Commerce.

Many netizens were lured by the emails saying that they can make big money when surfing the Internet, but actually, most of them were traps.

The US Federal Trade Commission adopted certain actions to ban the wide spread of the emails on how to get rich quickly and all the other countries enforced strict measures to crack down on such Internet frauds.

Shanghai is to adopt high-tech measures to deal with the illegals. Beginning March last year, Shanghai checked 1,300 websites with online trading business, indicating that 30 percent websites substandard.

Internet frauds such as the online pyramid sales were the biggest problems. They usually promised big profits for netizens and lured them pooling money into certain accounts.

The complaints for online consumption tripled last year, according to the Shanghai Consumer's Association.

The Shanghai Administration of Industry and Commerce has set up a professional team as the Internet supervisors and they would inspect the online trading businesses.

The companies that do online business should show their web-version of business licenses, according to the administration.
