President Jiang Zemin will conclude his visit to Germany Saturday and leave for Libya in the second leg of his 15-day tour.
It is the first visit to the African country by a Chinese head of state.
Since China established diplomatic relations with Libya 24 years ago, the two sides have consistently developed healthy political and economic ties, achieving satisfactory results.
During Jiang's visit to Libya, he will talk with Libyan leader Muammar Al Qathafi on how to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss major international and regional issues.
The current situation in the Middle East will also be discussed.
Jiang will leave Wolfsburg Saturday for Tripoli, the capital of Libya.
Saturday during Jiang's visit, an agreement was signed on co-operation between Volkswagen and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation Group.
In the agreement, the two sides will prolong their co-operation to 2030.
Earlier in the week, two agreements on educational and cultural co-operation between the two countries were also signed.
Jiang said his five-day state visit to Germany was "very successful'' in a statement to German President Johannes Rau and that it impressed him very much.
He also said his meetings with German leaders would further enhance mutual understanding, trust and friendship.
