Beijing people have become more conscious of laws and regulations after the law popularization work, according to a questionnaire by the Beijing Bureau of Statistics.
The survey was conducted in 18 districts and counties of Beijing by face-to-face interviews. The data indicates that the 15-year publicity work of the country's Constitution has a good harvest.
According to the survey, 89.25 percent of the interviewees in Beijing can answer the question what is the fundamental law in China, 80 percent of the interviewees considered the protection of the public’s legal right as the chief function of laws and 75.5 percent can correctly point out the highest institute of power in China is the National People’s Congress.
Mass media play an important role in law popularization. According to the survey, 80.94 percent of the interviewees acquired knowledge of the law from television and 10.59 percent gained it from newspapers or magazines.
