A signed article in the magazine "Across Straits Relations" predicts relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits will expand on the One-China Principle for an eventual peaceful reunification in the coming century, although arduous effort is needed.
The article, which will appear in the December edition of the magazine published by the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), said the struggle centered on the sticking to or negating the One-China Principle will be "acute intense and complicated."
However, it is impossible to change the orientation of the reunification between both sides of the Taiwan Straits and the issue of Taiwan can in no way be delayed indefinitely, said the article.
The article noted that the "two-state theory" advocated by Lee Tung-hui has been given a destructive blow in 2000 and the Taiwan authorities were forced to undertake that the "theory" will not be included in the so-called "constitution" and "law".
The article said the new leader of Taiwan authorities has failed to accept the One-China Principle as he negated the consensus reached in 1992 by ARATS and the Taiwan-based Strait Exchange Foundation.
According to the consensus, the sides agreed that "both sides of the strait will stick to the principle of "one China".
