The century-old Guge Culture in Tibet will be unraveled, according to the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, which has organized an expedition team of archeologists and journalists.
Experts from the China History Museum, Academy of Social Sciences, Forbidden City and Shaanxi Province along with journalists will set foot in Tibet on July 5 and return on July 25.
The Guge Culture is a major part of Tibetan culture. In the 9th century, descendants of Tubo established a dynasty called Guge in the Ali area of Tibet, which integrated the cultures of inner China, Tibet, Kashimir, India and Nepal during its development.
The dynasty died out in the mid 17th century leaving the ruins of its capital and Buddha buildings.
The expedition will focus on how the dynasty came into being, flourished and disappeared.
