Fifteen people were killed and three were seriously injured Wednesday morning when a truck turned over in remote Jinyang County, in southwest China's Sichuan province.
A police spokesman said that the truck was carrying 25 people to a local fair when it turned over and fell 100 meters into a valley.
Approximately 300 Police and civilian rescuers rushed to the scene.
The transportation department of the province Thursday sent an urgent notice to subordinate cities and counties requiring more rigorous supervision over safe highway operations to prevent accidents, which have increased abnormally recently, local sources said.
