After a paparazzi photo that was earlier released on the web showing her crying over her cell phone, Hao Lei publicly admitted that she and her actor husband Li Guangjie has been living separately for about two months.
The "Empire of Silver" actress made the announcement on Wednesday via sohu.com, "in order to stop media rumours."
"Mr. Li Guangjie moved out of our house on April 15, 2009," she said, "our marriage and relationship are in trouble and we both need time and space to calm down. We are hoping to find the best solution."
The celebrity couple tied the knot on August 8, 2006.
"Empire of Silver" is one of the two Chinese entries to this year's Shanghai International Film Festival, which is set to open on June 13.
