The Memorial Hall of Bethune and Kotnis in Tang County, Hebei Province, revealed on May 2 that shooting for the documentary "Red Foreigners" is currently taking place there.
This history-themed documentary is being produced by Phoenix Satellite TV to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the People's Republic of China.
Against the background of the war against the Japanese occupation, "Red Foreigners" contains 10 episodes. It will tell the complete and true story of 10 international friends of the Chinese people including Norman Bethune, Edgar Snow, Dwarkanath Kotnis and others. They traveled to distant China and made the liberation of the people of China their own business, offering true friendship to the Chinese people in war. The documentary will also show the Chinese people's respect for them and the mourning of their loss.
Two episodes of the documentary are now shooting in Tang County. They are "Bethune" and "Kotnis." The crew are now shooting scenes and conducting interviews in the places where Bethune and Kotnis passed away in the county, and also in the Memorial Hall of the pair.
This year witnesses the 70th anniversary of the death of Bethune. The two episodes mentioned above are scheduled for broadcast in the middle of June on Phoenix Satellite TV.
