The acclaimed Red Army Choir and Dance Ensemble will give six shows at the Poly Theater, Beijing, to celebrate the Christmas and New Year.
Under the direction of Major General Victor Eliseev, the ensemble has become a household name worldwide over the last 30 years. They have performed to 17 million people from Moscow to China, the Americas, Great Britain, Australia and even for the Pope in the Vatican.
The ensemble consists of a male choir, dancers, orchestra and soloists. Among them, 19 have State Honorary titles.
The versatility of their music, from Beethoven to classic Russian songs to contemporary English pop and 60s hits by the Beatles has enthralled people of all ages. Their incredible dance sequences feature modern ballet to traditional Russian folk, and the evergreen favorite dance of The Cossacks.
The ensemble has a live show experience that few others can match, having entertained the troops in sub-zero conditions on makeshift stages in Chechnya and under tarpaulins in the deserts of Afghanistan.
