The Ministry of Civil Affairs says more than two million tents are urgently needed for quake survivors. Manufacturers are dedicating production lines, and individuals are welcome to donate.
The director of Disaster Preparedness at the Disaster Relief Office, Gao Yucheng, over 400,000 tents have reached the quake zone. China also needs around 330,000 temporary houses for the displaced.
Tent manufacturers are now working overtime and hope to make about 900,000 tents within a month. Manufacturers of temporary houses also say they hope to reach their production goals within 3 months.
