Tax authorities have also announced policies to support quake-hit regions. It's cutting taxes and offering refunds in earthquake-devastated regions in Sichuan Province. The State Tax Administration said losses due to the earthquake, for both companies and individuals, can be deducted from tax returns. While supplies donated by other countries, individuals and companies will be exempted from import tax.

The administration added that people whose tax-paid autos or ships have been destroyed in the quake can apply for a tax refund until the end of this year. Quake victims can apply for a reduction or exemption from land use taxes. A deed tax on the purchase of a new home will also be cut or waved for earthquake victims. The tax authority added that companies and individuals who donated cash to the earthquake-hit areas will also be partly exempted from taxation.
