Just two hours the first tremors hit Wenchuan County, Ping An Insurance set up a committee and donated funds of up to five million yuan.
Ping An says clients can use hotlines 95511 and 95512 to report cases at any hour of the day.
Meanwhile, another insurance giant, the People's Insurance Company of China, has begun to work out what damages lie ahead, collecting data on property losses.
