For example, Sima Guang once said that Zibo's inkslab is more valuable than jade. Also, Qigong, a contemporary master in calligraphy, considered it a pleasure to engrave on it.

Nowadays, Zibo inkslab is still highly valued due to its exquisite features, which serve both ornamental and practical functions. Xu Lirong, a craftsman, established a gallery to protect and promote Zibo inkslab in 1993. The craftsmanship was declared a city-level intangible cultural heritage in 2007.
