China's banking regulator said Monday four banks in the quake-stricken Yushu prefecture had resumed business as of Sunday.

The Yushu Branch of Agriculture Bank of China reopened on April 16, two days after the devastating earthquake, and took deposits of over 800,000 yuan the same day, China Banking Regulatory Commission said in a statement.

The bank also set up three temporary outlets in tents to provide convenient financial services to residents in the quake-hit area.

Postal Services Bank of China, Agricultural Development Bank of China and local Rural Credit Cooperatives have all resumed operations.

A 7.1-magnitude quake struck the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu on Wednesday, leaving at least 1,944 people dead and 12,135 injured.
