China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) Sunday vowed all-out efforts to help resume telecommunications in quake-hit Yushu in northwest China's Qinghai Province.

Departments must ensure fuel supplies to communication stations and the mobile base stations to restore communication and improve the quality of communication, said MIIT minister Li Yizhong at a meeting.

While pledging to continue to do a good job of relief materials guarantee and to transporting needed materials to quake zone in time, Li also ordered local authorities to roll out communication reconstruction plans at soon as possible.

A 7.1-magnitude quake struck the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu Wednesday, leaving 1,706 people dead, 12,128 more injured, rescue headquarters said.

Plenty of infrastructure have also been damaged in the quake.

As of 7:00 a.m. Sunday, 42 of 185 mobile base stations had been unavailable as a result of disruptions to power and fuel supplies, according to the MIIT.
