China Coast Guard vessels take part in a security drill on the East China Sea off Pudong's Luchaogang area in preparation for the Shanghai 2010 World Expo on June 21, 2009. More than 1,000 servicemen from across the country, using 29 ships and two of Shanghai's police helicopters, participated in Sunday's exercise, which featured hostage rescue, firefighting and terrorism defense. The drill simulated attack scenarios in which terrorists hijacked a cargo ship, detained hostages on board and blew up the ship while fleeing by sea.
