One body was retrieved Sunday to bring the death toll from a mud-rock flow triggered by heavy rain to 5 in Kangding County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to local authorities.
Another 49 people are still missing.
Four of the five dead were confirmed to be workers of the quarry that provides stones for a hydropower station project.
One of the four people injured in the mud-rock flow has been discharged from hospital. The other three are in stable conditions though one of them is severely injured.
Large machines, including?eight excavators and?20 other vehicles has entered the site and joined the rescue.
The disaster was triggered by heavy rains Thursday in Kangding County. A total of 136 temporary sheds housing the workers for the hydropower station project were buried by 500,000 cubic meters of mud and rocks, according to rescuers.
