A comprehensive security check will be carried out in Beijing subways from the end of June. The public transport brigade of the Beijing Public Security Bureau reiterated yesterday that taking flammable and explosive materials on public transportation is strictly forbidden and violators will be detained with no exception, the Beijing Morning Post reports.
Security checks will be set up at public transportation hubs and some important stations before the end of June with all existing subway lines, including line 10, which will be put into use very soon. Besides using metal detector machines, police will also use hand check machines. Police hope passengers will understand and cooperate as the security checks may take time.
Starting from today, police will start examining dangerous materials on public transport around the clock.
Flammable and explosive materials mainly include solid and liquid materials such as gasoline, flammable rubber, paint, firming agents, industrial alcohol, and firecrackers.
Passengers can identify whether their belongings are flammable and explosive materials or not according to posters at subway stations.
Police stress, according to regulations of law and order, flammable and explosive materials are not allowed to be taken on public transportation and violators will receive a 5 to 15 days detainment. Police also encourage residents to report such dangerous behaviors by awarding those who report violations. Residents can call 86-10-64011327 to report.
