Train inspection and garage repair workers from the Urumqi
Railway Administration installed polyvinyl chloride crystal glass
on passenger train windows to protect them from fierce gusts of
wind.
It is said the new crystal glass made of polyvinyl chloride will
prevent windows from breaking into pieces and is acid and
alkali-resistant.
Trains running in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
constantly suffer strong wind assaults with sand and stones. Trains
and passengers may be in danger if the windows break.
The other side of the train will not be put up with the new
glass material. It is left clear for passengers to escape in case
of accidents.
The crystal glass made
of polyvinyl chloride is soft and transparent. It is difficult to
break into pieces and resists acid and alkali.
Train windows are
protected by the wind shells.
