The renovation work on the five pavilions of Beijing's Jingshan Park finished last week. The park will welcome visitors with its newly renovated pavilions during the upcoming National Day holiday.

Costing over seven million yuan and lasting for nearly one year, the renovation project repaired the damaged structures of the five pavilions, repainted the decoration drawings and renewed the lightening rod, fire-resistant equipment and spotlight systems.

The repair work followed the rule of "restoring the old relics to what they were." Complicated processing methods inheritated from ancient China were used in the renovation, with 58,000 goldleafs were used in the gilding process alone.

The five pavilions, located on the top of Coal Hill, are the symbols of Jingshan Park and offer great views of the historic quarters of Beijing.

The last renovation project took place in 1973, 33 years ago.
