BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.41 percent to 3,889.35 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.84 percent higher at 13,258.33 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 2.09 trillion yuan (about 295.87 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.86 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to precious metals, power grid equipment, and commercial aerospace sectors led the gains, while retail and real estate sectors suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.97 percent to close at 3,194.36 points Friday. Enditem
