BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Beijing won the 2025 Chinese Football Association (CFA) Women's Super League title after defeating Liaoning 4-0 at home in the final 22nd round on Sunday.
Beijing's last triumph in the Women's Super League was in 2002. Before the match, Liaoning topped the rankings with 40 points, just two points ahead of Beijing, so the final clash between the two teams would decide the champion.
Both teams had fast transition on both ends after the game started. In the 29th minute, Beijing's Zhang Linyan broke into the box and was fouled on the left wing. The referee awarded a penalty, and Beijing's Zhao Yujie kept her cool to convert it.
The home team became more aggressive after taking lead, as Saratou Traore of Beijing extended the advantage in the 35th minute.
Zhao completed a hat-trick in the second half, as she added another two goals in the 79th and 85th minute respectively. The home team then sealed the victory 4-0 to leap over Liaoning on the table to win the champion.
"The key is to seize the opportunity during the game. The whole team with all veterans and young players fought together. We achieved our goal of the season," Zhang said after the match.
Beijing head coach Yu Yun noted, "Our home fans encouraged us a lot, and our players made utmost efforts throughout the match. The competition was more about the psychological status, and we handled the pressure."
"The match was also a test for the upcoming National Games this year. The growth of our players really matters. Our team will strive for the best at the National Games," Yu added. Enditem
