BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian forward Leonardo scored a hat-trick to power Shanghai Port to a 3-2 victory over Beijing Guoan on Sunday night, tightening the Chinese Super League title race.

Leonardo opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a sharp strike from inside the box. He doubled the lead in the 51st with another precise finish before sealing his treble in the 79th minute with a close-range effort.

Beijing tried to rally as Fabio Abreu and Zhang Xizhe each found the net, but the hosts ultimately fell short. The win moved Shanghai Port to 54 points, equal with Chengdu Rongcheng at the top of the standings.

In a key clash between Chengdu and third-placed Shanghai Shenhua, Chen Jinyi put Shenhua ahead in the 68th minute with a composed finish. But in stoppage time, Timothy Chow pounced on Romulo's rebound off the post to rescue a 1-1 draw for the visitors.
