MACAO, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's Sun Yingsha got off to a good start to the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Macao 2025 campaign, as she eliminated Anna Hursey of Wales 3-1 on Wednesday.

"Hursey's single shots and the speed and quality on her backhand side were good," Sun said after the match. Looking ahead to her next match against Romania's Bernadette Szocs, the defending champion noted that it has been a long time since their last meeting, and she will be well-prepared.

Chen Xingtong of China swept past Lily Zhang of the United States in straight games, while Kuai Man recovered from one-game deficit to beat South Korea's Joo Cheon-hui 3-1.

With Cheng I-Ching of Chinese Taipei withdrawing from the tournament, Team China's Wang Manyu advanced directly to the round of 16.

In the men's singles, Xiang Peng of China fell just short after a five-game battle, bowing out to Germany's Patrick Franziska.

The WTT Champions Macao 2025 runs until Sunday at the Macao East Asian Games Dome. Enditem
