FUZHOU, Southeast China, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- About 2,200 riders from 16 countries and regions will race in the Pingtan International Cycling Open on Sunday, organizers announced on Wednesday.
Launched in 2014, the race features an 87-kilometer island circuit, breaking away from the traditional flat-road and loop-race formats. The new route introduced a challenging uphill section along the scenic Northern Ecological Corridor, testing riders' endurance and skills while presenting breathtaking scenes to spectators.
The organizers said they had updated the one-day race's course and service for its 10th anniversary, in hopes of delivering Pingtan's island scenes and its cycling culture to the world. Enditem
