BEIJING, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Shenhua returned to the top of the Chinese Super League (CSL) with 49 points after winning over Qingdao Hainiu 2-0 as the 22nd round concluded on Monday.
Shenhua's two goals were made in the second-half stoppage time to clinch the victory, respectively scored by Yu Hanchao and Liu Chengyu.
"In the last ten rounds of this season, the 20th to 30th, there is little room for us to make mistakes. We should be tough and take each match as the final. The whole team needs to be well-prepared," the 38-year-old veteran Yu said after the game.
Beijing Guoan bounced back recently after painful losses to Shenhua and Chengdu Rongcheng last month. Beijing overpowered Wuhan Three Towns 4-0 at home to reach second place with 48 points.
Shanghai Port also collected 48 points but ranked third due to goal difference after being held by Tianjin Jinmen Tigers 1-1. Brazilian striker Gabrielzinho opened the scoreline for the Port with a penalty in the 13th minute, while Tianjin's Spaniard Alberto Quiles tied in the 43rd minute.
With just two points less than Shenhua, the fourth-placed Chengdu crushed Yunnan Yukun 5-1 and will meet the Port in the next round.
In other matches, Meizhou Hakka drew Zhejiang FC 2-2, Changchun Yatai edged Shenzhen Peng City 1-0, Henan FC overwhelmed Dalian Yingbo 4-0, and Shandong Taishan secured victory over Qingdao West Coast 3-2. Enditem
