GUANGZHOU, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- In a week when Chinese-Canadian teenager Aphrodite Deng Tiexin attracted much of the golf world's attention at the Canadian Women's Open, another exciting 15-year-old amateur, Liu Yujie, went wire-to-wire to capture the Jackfish Guangdong Women's Open for her maiden CLPG Tour win on Saturday.

The Beijing teenager closed with even-par 72 for a five-stroke victory at Huamei Luhu Golf Club, her first victory against a pro field. Liu, 109th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, finished on nine-under 207.

Liu, who closed with a conservative round featuring three birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey seven at the 499-yard penultimate hole where her second shot went out of bounds, now joins Deng, winner of last month's U.S. Girls' Championship, as the latest exciting teenager to watch.

Going into the final round with a two-stroke lead, Liu said despite some pre-round nerves, her only goal today was to win.

"Even if you post a relatively poor score, as long as you win it's a good result. If you don't win, even shooting 10-under wouldn't be an ideal outcome. So today, victory was the only objective," said Liu, whose father, former table tennis world champion Liu Guoliang, was there to witness her breakthrough win.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. Being able to share it with my dad and my whole family makes me incredibly happy."

Xu Ying, the China No. 2 amateur, closed with a three-under 69 for her best round of the week, enough to finish a distant runner-up to Liu. Thai pro Kan Bunnabodee shot 73 to finish third, six shots off the winning score but good enough to claim the RMB105,000 winner's purse.

Hong Kong's Sophie Han (70) and Dalian native Ren Yijia (71) added to the strong showing of amateurs in finishing equal fourth with pro Lin Xin'en (70). Zhou Shiyuan, the country's top amateur, was seventh after a 73.

It was the fourth straight win by an amateur on the CLPG Tour, setting a new record with four different champions.

Xu, a two-time winner on the CLPG Tour this season, admittedly was disappointed by her play this week despite a birdie-birdie finish that gave her runner-up honors. Her round also included three other birdies and two bogeys.

"I lost too many strokes on the greens this week, missing several short putts that I normally wouldn't have any trouble with. I gave it my all. I really feel like I left everything out there," said the 16-year-old from Zhuhai, who sits 33rd in the world rankings.

"Liu Yujie was fantastic. On such a demanding course she remained incredibly steady and posted such a strong score. That's really impressive. Everyone's form varies from tournament to tournament, and course compatibility differs too. Seeing Yujie play so well is definitely an inspiration for all of us. We all strive to measure up to those who perform at their best."

By contrast, Bunnabodee was happy yet humble to receive the winner's purse for her biggest payday since turning pro last year. Her final round featured birdies at the first and third holes and three bogeys, including one at the last.

"I wish I could do better. There is still a lot of room to improve, but overall I was kind of satisfied how my second round (67) kind of turned my game the other side around," said the Chonburi native, who turned pro following a college career at Purdue University in the U.S..

"This gives me a little confidence because the beginning of this year I haven't played very well on the CLPG Tour, so this is kind of a turning point a little bit. Hopefully I can do better, better and maybe get a win later on." Enditem
