KUNMING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- During a tea gathering hosted by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa on Thursday in Anning, southwest China's Yunnan Province, the three parties reached the consensus that Cambodia and Thailand will accelerate the resumption of normal exchanges, according to the Chinese foreign ministry on Friday.

Cambodia and Thailand will strive to strengthen contacts and exchanges, resume normal exchanges at an early date, and rebuild and enhance mutual trust.

China supports Cambodia and Thailand in earnestly implementing the consensus reached at the recent Cambodian-Thai leaders' meeting and the extraordinary session of the General Border Committee, promptly restoring peace and tranquility in border regions and realizing a lasting ceasefire.

China supports the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in continuing to play an active role in maintaining the overall unity of ASEAN.

It is hoped that Cambodia and Thailand will continue to foster favorable conditions and work toward restoring normalcy in the border areas as soon as possible, and meeting the expectations of border residents on both sides.

China stands ready to continue playing a constructive role in line with the wishes of both Cambodia and Thailand, including providing support and assistance for mutually agreed activities such as demining in designated border areas. Enditem
