China's military leaders vowed to fully implement the strategic layout of "Four Comprehensives" put forward by President Xi Jinping and build strong armed forces at the ongoing national legislative session on Thursday and Friday.

Joining panel discussions with military deputies to the National People's Congress, senior commanders pledged that the armed forces will work according to the strategy of comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society, deepening reform, advancing the rule of law and strictly governing the Party.

Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) Fan Changlong said the military will thoroughly carry out instructions from Xi, who is also CMC chairman, and make concrete progress in the development and reform of national defense.

The armed forces will clear up the negative impact of the corruption case of Xu Caihou, former CMC vice chairman, he said.

Xu Qiliang, another CMC vice chairman, told deputies that the armed forces will strictly abide by the Party's political disciplines and follow the command of the Party leadership, CMC and Xi.

The armed forces will upgrade combat training, push forward the reform and discipline all soldiers and servicemen, he said.

Minister of Defense Chang Wanquan called for upgrading the country's defense strategy and commanding the armed forces in line with the law.

Fang Fenghui, chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), said reform of national defense and the armed troops must be deepened to raise the capability of winning wars.

There must be strict political disciplines and zero tolerance for corruption to ensure the troops absolutely follow the instructions of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the CMC and Chairman Xi, said Zhang Yang, head of PLA's General Political Department.

Zhao Keshi, head of PLA's General Logistics Department, pledged to make better use of the military fund and build a logistics system that combines military and civilian resources.

Zhang Youxia, head of PLA's General Armament Department, vowed to improve the armament amid efforts to build a strong army.

Navy Commander Wu Shengli, Air Force Commander Ma Xiaotian and Commander of the Second Artillery Corps Wei Fenghe also voiced support for the implementation of the "Four Comprehensives" and determination to safeguard national sovereignty and security.
