The Baotou police unit in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region announced on Tuesday that the burnt body found in a car in Baotou was Jin Libin himself, contradicting rumors on the Internet that it was Jin's father who was found dead.

Jin, owner of the Huilong Trading Company, was suspected of illegally raising funds by fraudulent means several months ago.

Baotou police found Jin's remains on April 13 in a burned-out ruined car.

An Internet user claimed in a post on Tianya.com that Jin did not die from the fire, but instead put his father's body in the car so as to escape charges of illegal fund-raising.

However, police said that they performed a DNA test on the remains and confirmed that it was Jin himself.

The police added that the body could by no means be Jin's father, as he has been dead for 20 years.
