A female doctor in a hospital in Shantou, Guangdong Province, has been removed from her post for allegedly writing comments in her microblog mocking patients who were close to death.

Li Conglin, a doctor at the Shantou City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was stripped of the right to write prescriptions after publicizing "improper comments" in her microblog, according to an announcement published on the hospital website.

The "improper comments" referred to several entries in Li's microblog, one of which saw Li complaining of how one patient's death might disturb her rest during the night.

"The blood pressure of one patient has been dropping, and it seems that I might have to get up at midnight to dispose of the corpse. It's not easy for me to keep my bed warm in such cold weather, so please don't die until I get off work," said one of the entries that was posted last Wednesday.

"When I was off work, she began to spit blood, and she was thought to have a few hours left. Anyway, it's none of my business since I am off work today, oh yeah!" said another entry.

In an entry posted last Thursday, Li said that she "had received the best news," which was "the patient was declared dead at 2:10 pm." The reason she was so happy about the patient's death was that she could "have a good sleep tonight and go outside tomorrow."

Li's entry was widely circulated among microblog users on Tuesday.

The hospital apologized for Li's behavior in the announcement on Wednesday, adding that it would further investigate the incident.

Lin Junqiang, head of the hospital's investigation team, told the Global Times Thursday that the microblog was kept by Li, but Li claimed that it had been hacked and the entries had not been written by her.

"Li said she never wrote the improper entries in the microblog," Lin said. "If they were not written by Li, we will call the police to further investigate."
