Woman must fork over more cash to ex-husband

A man in Anhui Province has asked a court to order his ex-wife to pay him more money so he could cope with inflation.
Anhui-based Xin'an Evening News reported Monday that the court in Feixi county agreed with the man and ordered the woman surnamed Xie to pay the man surnamed Li an extra 200 yuan ($30) each month.
Li divorced Xie in 2008, and the two parties agreed that Li should live with their son, but Xie had to pay 100 yuan ($15) in child support a month.
However, Li said he could not support his son's living and school expenses because of growing cost, and he presented receipts issued by the school with his demand for Xie to give more. Xie rejected Li's request.
Li then took his ex-wife to court, demanding her to pay 300 yuan ($45) more each month, using his son's living expenses as the reason.
The court made the ruling on Thursday, after taking into account that tuition fees and living cost went up.
The report said the amount of support divorced couples pay is not fixed, and that the children can demand their mother or father give money more than previously agreed based on their actual needs.
The consumer price index has increased by 4.4 percent year-on-year in October, which is above the government's full-year target of 3 percent. The price of vegetables and other food items have increased over the past few months.
Authorities have pledged to implement various measures, such as tightening monetary policy and crack down against hoarding and speculation, to curb inflation. The central government has also taken measures to curb real estate speculation and price rises.
