Yaoshe, a remote village in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, just 123 kilometers from the city center, gets no mobile phone signal and receives only one TV channel, Guangzhou Daily reports.

The village has a population of more than 100, though only 27 remain during the day while other residents go to school or work. Most of the older villagers have never been to urban Guangzhou.
