Giraffes and hippos will travel through the main roads in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, next week and cars are told to make room for these zoo animals heading towards their new home.

The five-meter-tall giraffes are the biggest challenge in the move as they can not pass through the zoo gate and some overpasses on route. Changsha Zoo has called for help from local police to control traffic while the animals travel in the city.

The giraffes will pass four overpasses. Roads under these overpasses will be closed for two hours when zookeepers guide these giraffes go through, local Xiaoxiang Morning News reported today.

Zookeepers have to keep giraffes' heads down when they walk under the overpasses. A "transformer cage" has been invented for them. It can lower the roof to hold giraffes' heads down when it is needed.

The move will officially start next Sunday and the animals will be led out after the evening rush hour so that they will not suffer sunstroke, the report said.

Fierce animals such as tigers, lions, and boars, have being lured into mobile cages. Zookeepers said it was a hard task as large animals don't want to leave their familiar surroundings.

Next week's migration will be the animals last hours living in a cage. The new Changsha Zoo will be a Safari park and travelers can visit the park after October.
