Taizhou boasts a large variety of natural products, ranging from fruits and tea to fish. The leading industries here include automobiles, textiles, medical technology, home appliances and plastics. Automobiles produced by Geely Automobile Holdings and sewing machines manufactured by Feiyue Group Co. Ltd. are some of the most well known in the country. The private sector accounts for an overwhelming 97 percent of Taizhou's economy; private capital goes mostly to local industries including the financing sector. The city's development priorities are now focused on electric power generation, advanced manufacturing and some other new industries.
